This comm is a little dead. If anyone has the time to devote to it, it's up for grabs. Change it, do what you want with it, or else as soon as I figure out how to delete it, it's gone.

Now that the awards are all wrapped up, it's time to announce new ones. The Tragic Bliss Awards will hopefully become an annual thing, starting again in January if everything works out. Funny to think that these started with a few simple words from me to Rachael. "Hey, I've got an idea, Rach!"
I won't be leading them this time. I'd love to be kept on as a judge, but I believe someone else could introduce their new ideas and improve the awards. So, basically, the Awards are up for grabs! Of course judges get first pick. Leave a comment or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you're interested.
Once again, thanks to our lovely judges, who did so much more than they ever expected to. Thanks to everyone for a great TBA, 2005! Current Mood: accomplished

Poll closed and banners:
The tie breaker poll is now closed, congratulations to distracteddream
for winning for her story 'Haunted By Bliss'.
I've been able to finish the banners, they're not superb but I don't have time to do better ones. Of course, another judge could make the banners.Upload your banner to your own server! I will be removing these from the web in a couple of days because I need room on photobucket.com for my own things. Also, if you are using any finalist banners then upload those to your own server too because they will be removed soon. So upload to your own server.( Read more...Collapse )
Congratulations to all winners, we will EVENTUALLY have banners for you. Thanks for voting, everyone!
Honorable Mention: Gaslight's 'To Walk Abroad and Recreate' has been taken down from ff.net and abandoned, and in honor of the chapters that she wrote before she took it down, the story will recieve the RIP award. Current Mood: cheerful

Without regards to the results (neither Mel or I have looked) the polls are now CLOSED.
A second poll will be put up soon by lilycup to break the ties.

A question for my lovely friends; how are we going with this? And are we doing something again for next year? (LOL, call me crazy, but it was fun even though it's taken so long!!)
|Tuesday, July 19th, 2005|
We're finally nearing the end of judging-Rachael had some problems but she'll be sending hers in soonish. And then we can get these awards finished! All of the judges picks will be finalists, and then we can decide of 1st, 2nd, 3rd places, honorable mentions if necessary...whatever seems to fit the categories best. Thanks so much for judging, and thanks lilycup for making such wonderful finalist icons and banners, which I'll put in a post with the finalists once it's all wrapped up. I still think we should contact the authors of the selected stories, and I'll do that as soon as the rest of the judging is in.
Very perceptive judging! I was impressed! Again, thank you so much for your time. Current Mood: happy

Thanks for judging so effieciently! Looks like no one has overlooked a detail so far.
Sorry I haven't gotten my judging up yet- give me one week to get through finals and then I promise I'll get it all done. Great judging so far, guys, pretty soon we'll be able to get together and decide.
Also, the two poems not found on the site are under the penname LatinNights, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. I know they're up now, so please add those to the judging when you can.
And I think once we've all done our judging and have everyone's favorites from each group, the authors of the stories should be notified-I'll take care of that soon. But can anyone make a banner or icon to send them saying "Finalist in the Tragic Bliss Awards" or something along those lines?

Look at our wonderful new user info, spiffed up by lilycup!
And judges, at least, should put the gorgeous banner thing in their user profile. And keep nominating, everyone! Current Mood: in awe
Just posting this again, it kinda got lost...
Before the deadly lust of Paris and Helen, before the short love of Briseis and Achilles, there was the tragic bliss of Hector and Andromache.
The Tragic Bliss Awards are about bringing out the best fanfiction about Hector and Andromache, and we hope you'll help us by submitting!
1. You may submit your own fic, if you think it's worthy.
2. Ongoing stories submitted do not have to be complete, but they must be over 3 chapters (the general idea of the story should be established).
3. Stories must fit into the category nominated for and deal with the relationship of Hector and Andromache. This will be at the discretion of the judges.
4. Submitting another person's story as your own is not allowed. Shame on you for asking.
5. Stories written by more than one person are not allowed.
6. All ratings are accepted.
7. Don't worry about the judges.. They aren't allowed to judge their own fics or those of a friend.
8. All submissions must be emailed by March 31st, 2005.
9. You can nominate other people's fics.
Best Humor- Should make you laugh, or is just funny
Best Romance- Think fluffy like a cloud, or passionate beyond your dreams.
Best Angst/Drama/Tragedy- If you were on the verge of tears, nominate it.
Best Ongoing Fic- Must be longer than 5 chapters and cover important events in the relationship.
Best Poem- Portrays emotions well, in poetry form.
Best Oneshot- The best one-chaptered story out there.
Best Action/Adventure- If it gets your pulse racing (not just because you love Hector) then it should be here.
Best Overall- Combines many of the elements in the other categories, and is written spectacularly.
The idea of the awards is to bring out the best of Hector/Andromache, and there will be runners up, winners, honorable mentions, etc. There's a lot of good stuff out there, and we thank you for helping us with these awards by submitting!
Want a nomination form? Just send a quick email to email@example.com Current Mood: cheerful

Feel free to tell me if you completely hate this idea, or have a better one. It's not set in stone.
I've been pondering new ways to get more submissions to the awards, and I had a few ideas.
1. One was for each judge, and whoever else wanted to, to go through the list of categories and pick a fic (or a few) for each category, and provide the link. Of course, simple submissions of one fic would still be accepted. I understand that our current system of judging would make this process take FOREVER, so we could either keep it, or discuss each story and grade it as a group, or simply comment on the good and bad aspects of it and score it that way. I'm not sure which would be best, or if there's a better way.
2. After whatever way we judge, we can post the stories and their links and have other people either vote on them or share their feelings about the peices, too. Then we can discuss again, considering the comments and votes, and make the finalists of each category.
3. I think it's best to be safe- once a story is submitted, the author can be contacted and asked permission for their story to be in the awards. We'll also contact winners and runners up.
4. We'd still need to advertise- if anyone has been advertising, thanks!
Please let me know what your feelings are on this, whether you're a judge or not. If you have better ideas, I'd be happy to hear them. Let me know as soon as you can!

Twist of Love Ch. 4
Title: Twist of Love
Author: Evanescent Dawn/vindikatedwritr
Rating: PG, may change
Pairing: Achilles/Briseis, Hector/Andromache, Helen/Paris
Summary: AU An arrow guided by Apollo may be stopped by a leap of love.
A/N: It's an AU, obviously and takes place right in that scene where Paris "killed" Achilles. I love both Hector and Achilles too much to let them go so I wrote this. It's archived on fanfiction.net, please review!
Here's the link:http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2231782/4/
Enjoy! It's got a HUGE Hector & Andromache scene, very sad but sweet and some Briseis/Achilles fluff as well :)
